If you want to make an image containing text, you should use font-smoothing. Just look to the left an see why.
To make smooth text in Paint Shop Pro 4.1 just do the following:
- Increase number of colors to 16 Millions (Colors, Increase Color Depth).
- In the Add Text dialog (the one you get when using the Text tool) check Antialias in the upper right corner.
To smooth text, the letter's aura is lighter than the center. This can be used to make a special aura-effect.
To the left are two examples of pattern filled Smoothed text. The first was originally red and
has an red aura. The second was originally blue and has no aura.
The most common fonts in Windows are TrueType and Adobe Type 1. Both are vector based, which means that they can be scaled to any big size in very high quality. If you want your text wider or taller, you should use a program that take advantage of this. Unfortunately Paint Shop Pro does not. If you want to stretch text with Paint Shop Pro, you have to use Resize/Resample .
Stretching text is however very easy with Microsoft Image Composer. Just select the Text tool, type in your Text, click apply and use the mouse to stretch and rotate.
