Optimizing Animations

This simple animation could easily be made from these three frames:

But if you look a little closer, you will notice that the each frame contains everything in all the previous frames. Your animation will be smaller -- and maybe easier to create -- if you make the frames like this:

When you create the animation, you must specify that the frames are not removed and specify a transparent color. If the animation itself should not be transparent, do not specify a transparency for the first frame.

To optimize your animation even more, you could remove all the white space around the words FAST!, CHEAP and GREAT!. And then specify the coordinates manually.

Manual optimizing takes a long time. Automation can be done with Ulead GIF Animator and Ulead SmartSaver. These programs can also be set to do other optimization, like making a Super Pallette which is used for all frames -- instead of a Local Pallette for each frame.

SmartSaver compresses a little better than GIF Animator.
